The summer weather prompted a good turn out of 21 runners and with the temperatures not reaching the forecast 31 deg C you couldn’t really have asked for better circumstances. Though the flies didn’t get the message about not being invited! WHITE RABBIT is starting to not live up to her name and yet again arrived on time. It’s a worry.
A short walk of 3km, a long walk of 5km and a run of 6km were promised and delivered, cunningly using the same trail devised for the Harriettes 10 days earlier. Only HE’LL DO, PHANTOM and SHORTSHEETER had been on that run so not surprisingly they got back pretty quickly as they knew the checks and on backs. A bit lonely therefore for your scribe but never mind!
PEE DUB and COPRA were passed on the way back but other than that had to rely on comments at the bucket, mostly well done and well marked. The run made good use of the pipeline, laneways and pedestrian walkways, twice using those to cross the busy Warringah Rd. Being designed to accommodate bikes too the incline is not too steep and so the lead up and down is quite long – reckon there was 2km of bridge crossing involved!
Back at the bucket COPRA was keen to get things moving and business and down downs were got out of the way quickly. DIXON, a guest brought by BRENGUN was quickly introduced, PEE DUB told a very clean joke and we were on to the important part of the run. FOOD. Excellent tacos with fillings home made by the hares and plenty for doggy bags after. Definitely 10/10 for the food.
The food was so good that MUSIC MAN was trying to work out how to break it to his partner that maybe the romantic dinner promised after wouldn’t eventuate. I believe he bargained his way down to a romantic glass of red – a true Hashman!
At the circle it was also quietly announced that BRENGUN would be the next GM so thought I should get it out in print for those hard of hearing. The only other business was announcing the December run as the traditional Christmas Run starting from Newport Rugby Field. Thanks to CRUM and CRUMPET for doing all things financial and bucket wise – they are the true GEMS of Hashing.
